my apologies if this is posted in the wrong category. But has anyone done this before? What was the process and what was the outcome? I'm finding my lawyer's most recent bill to be unreasonably highly - while there is some courtesy discounts in there I don't feel that it is still reasonable, I have been able to get the lawyers bill reduced previously with the lawyer directly but it has always been a painful task, with the lawyer wanting to come off record, I am thinking to just have it assessed by the courts and would love to hear from this forum

Originally posted by plainNamedDad44 View PostHi Trinton, I have done this with very good results. I cut my lawyer's bill to 50 cents on the dollar, and this was him settling during the first meeting of the assessment. Do not be intimidated by their threats and do not be lead by the nose. I ended up self rep'ing and winning.
Thanks. I already made the lawyer and offer and doesn't sound like she is in agreement. I'm going to file it and let it be.

Makes one wonder what other zingers you have been told by her.....
sounds like you didn't finish reading the thread .. the order specifically states that the records will be released to counsel and if parties self-represent than they can only see them but can't obtain copies - it wasn't a zinger - she's a good lawyer (not the lawyer that's coming off the record)

Regardless. Counsel was ordered off record and records ordered to counsel were ordered to me and CAS records to opposing counsel.
Now the fun begins. I get to assess the lawyers bill and she can't hold any documents hostage on monies. This should be fun. I don't think she's too happy for being denied her costs of the motion to get off record. Or the fact that I'm going to be additionally disputing charges or her bill for the motion to get off record. Sometimes you just have to stand up tall and stop people from getting away with unfair practices. Have to strive to make the world a better place for our children.
