  • Pension Adjustment & Equalization

    Hello Lindsay or Logicalvelocity.

Hey.! Thanks for all the responses in the past.

Question: I am still in the midst of trying to draft a Separation Agreement with my wife. My pension has already been evaluated but I am seeking her true RRSP value as at the date of Separation. Her Lawyer does not agree with this and has stated if I wish to continue in that direction then my wife will request a "gross-up for deferred taxes".

Can you please elaborate on this.? Our Sep. date is July 06,2004.

Does that statement (deferred taxes) refer to the RRSP'S or something else (e.g. a business).

What do you mean by the "true RRSP value" at the date of separation. Are you implying they gave you an RRSP statement that is old. You can btw, get your actual RRSP portfolio value at any time. And when doing a NFP, it should be the actual value at date of separation. Not some back-dated statement.
