  • Using a Different Address on Forms

Hopefully this is an easy question. I have a friend who is submitting the application and other forms to commence the legal process. Their ex-spouse has been quite violent and extraordinarily harassing. The only thing separating them is a restraining order.

Can this person use a different address than where they are living on the forms? Of course I know that a PO Box is out of the question.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

They will need to provide a valid mailing address. Whatever the address, their ex can effect service by mailing documents there.

If your friend has a lawyer, they should request that the documents not include their address and that all service is on their lawyer. If they are a self rep they will need to find a reliable mailing address, with mail for them care of someone.
