  • Call to Kanata single Dad's and Mom's

Hey - This is my first post. I am newly seperated / divorced with a son. I don't know anyone else in my situation - all of my friends are either married or single without kids.

It would be cool to to meet other people that have recently gone through this dramatic life change...I"m stuggling with what my life is supposed to look like now..my identity..

a good start is your gp - he/she can guide you to the more likely resources in your community - if not where next to go. Here we have several, two of them are churched based or at least they are having meetings in the church.

I'm sorry you're having trouble. I'm having the opposite reaction. I lived with my ex pretty much since I was on my own and now that I'm free, I LOVE being in my own house and am so giddy that I can't figure out what to do first.

Anyway try meetup.com ...you just put in your postal code and there's a number of groups that you can join, including some for divorce support. I would recommend, however, branching out to find some other group interests because people sitting in a circle telling horrific divorce stories can be a bit much and I'm not sure if it helps.

Personally, I would join something more empowering and active so that you get some friends to talk to and some exercise...or something in your interest set so that you move yourself away from the focus on the divorce and on with the rest of your life.

If you're having more serious emotional issues with the divorce, the best place to try is your health provider through work. They usually have resources for private counselling services.

      Best wishes!

Like pursuing, this is the first time I have ever lived alone and I also love it. I keep myself busy...looking into taking more courses...went to have my computer fixed and the fellow who did my machine asked me out for diner on Saturday night....hell ya!!! Would I ever give up my freedom...no...but having a male "friend" can be a nice way to have company and still keep my own home. It's all good
