For the 12 year old, I'd talk with her and make sure she understands she has a right to privacy, and she can 'demand' private bathroom time.

If dad (and his partner) continues to walk around the house nude, not too much you can do about it.

Are the kids complaining about the showering/nudity making them uncomfortable? If not, I'd ignore it. It's none of your business if the choose to be less restrictive in their household than you do in yours.

As for the smoking, it is illegal to smoke in the car with a child under 16, but not in the home unfortunately. There are lots of cases on Canlii that discuss smoking in the home with children present.

    Dad. Bathing w girls

Here is my scenerio. Girls are 12,9 and 4. Dad still gets in the shower w them. His gf showers and is naked around them. She showers only w the 4 year old. We r in court still and I am afraid to open any more cans of worms. They smoke in the house and car with kids. An ideas how to deal with these situations?

Usually I get a call from them telling me I'm about to be arrested. I'm then given the choice of surrendering, or waiting for a knock at the door.

I choose to surrender. No point in making things harder then they need to be.

In this case, I goto the cop-shop and surrender. I try very hard to be fully clothed when I show up. No point in adding public indecency charges to the mix...

Girls get modest about the time they start school full-time. Boys are modest from about 12-16 and then it's back to pretty much the same thing. I don't think they grow out of it after that.

As for the farting...that never gets old for the guys. After a certain age it's all about the tone and pitch rather than the frequency or volume.

How long does this take?? My sons are 4 and 7 and their naked antics are outrageous. I can't wait for them to want some privacy for certain things. Of course, I've been told that fart jokes never stop being funny to the male half of the species, so I could be waiting a while.

Me neither. I used to be very ashamed of my body, but quickly learned to deal with it when I had to get help breastfeeding my daughter. While I dont love my body at the moment, I certainly have a much healthier view of it and encourage both girls to do the same.

The naked booty dance takes place in a changing cubicle. While the girls are quite comfortable, I need to to protect them from anyone else who would be peeking at them. Especially when one of them yelled today "I love my body!" while doing the dance

It's amazing to see the intolerance we (adults) inflict on our children under the guise of what we deem acceptable by societal standards about things that are so natural as nudity. Children aren't born biased or with a jaded perception of their own bodies or people seeing them - the same way they're not born anti-semitic or homophobic. It's really a shame to see adults cultivate such negative attitudes in our children (such young children, especially) rather then letting them naturally develop a sense of modesty on their own.

Sheesh! God forbid they get so ashamed they develop body issues! whats the big deal? just add lots of bubbles!

And they should be that comfortable about it into adulthood as well! Cute

I took it that you meant the police, May-May. But both scenarios equally funny.

Nadia... I do think each house is entitled to handle nudity differently, so long as our children are raised with a positive attitude, ane respect for themselves. Our boys (6 & 13) have been in changerooms with their hockey and lacrosse teams naked, half clothed, shaking their butts at each other since they were 4.

Good luck dealing with the ex ! That would require a switch to decaf.
