Hi everyone.
I have a daughter who I have been paying Child Support for many years. (which was fine, she needed and deserved financial support) She is now 20 years old and currently not enrolled in post secondary education. She lives with her mother full time and has a full time job. (five days a week). The way I read our family mediation agreement is if she is 18 and not in school child support ends. Am I missing something or do I have good grounds to bring this up with her mother?
Second question is If my daughter goes back to school after she turns 21 (January 2024) Could child support start again? I am having troubles finding information to see when one is actually considered an adult. Our family mediation agreement stats all child support stops at 21 but I'm not sure if that is correct?
What my plan is to give my daughter money as she needs it, teach her about financially literacy. She will be taken care of as life goes along. But the monthly child support payments may have come to an end.
Any input is appreciated.
thank you
HW
