I was making 80,000 last year when my common law spouse kicked me out. It was the first and only year I made over $40,000. I have had medical problems and am now making under $20,000/yr. I am paying 700 for ss and can't afford it. Can I get the order reduced? One lawyer said NO without hearing my situation. Going to a new lawyer tomorrow. Any suggestions? SS is unreasonable.

You CAN put forth a MOTION TO VARY SUPPORT.
The reasons that it is justified must be presented. The Judge will take these into consideration but will also take into consideration the recipients situation.
There is no guarantee but it is possible to have a reduction.
My partner was successful in getting his spousal support payments reduced by 44% and an income of $20 000 imputed to his ex this past May.
