  • False financial disclosure

Hi - I'm in the midst of negotiating a separation agreement. We've been separated for 10 mths, and during this time have agreed to split all expenses and income as during the marriage.

I've just recently discovered that my ex has not been totally honest about his income. He has told me he makes less than he actually does, and he has been rewarded a sizable bonus which he also did not disclose. I discovered this when reading through his bank statements.

We had agreed to not litigate and just exchange Form 13 to save on legal costs. I was hoping to avoid court orders to access banking info, but he is obviously not acting in good faith and I'm not sure what my best option to do is. Any advice?

See a lawyer immediately, even if it is just for the 1/2 hour consultation. See many. Be sure to make a list of questions so that you don't waste your 1/2 hour. Get your name off anything that is attached to his. Keep things civil and get your hands on all the documents you can i.e. his last 3 years of income tax.
