  • common-law rights to home

I am currently in a common-law relationship and I hold the deed and the mortgage is in only my name. Does my common-law partner have any rights to the home?

Not in a common law relationship. The house belongs to you, if your name is on the deed. Check out Jeff's site for more info:

Are you in Ontario, if so, then perhaps you may have have a future spousal support liability against you - Once means and needs is established, Consideration to child support first. The home is yours, but you could have a claim of unjust enrichment against you.

        see this thread

Do something about this immediately. Possession is 9/10ths of the law. If a status quo develops, it is very difficult to change after time. If you have knowledge in regards to an illicit drug habit and fail to act, it could make you look sort of irresponsible and not acting in the child's best interest. Make sure you have proof of this illicit drug habit, ie multiple witness's or other.

she is threatning me for half the house and one of the vehivles.i amm on disability for a seruios eye disease and hearing impairment.i can no longer work.
If the house is in your name, the house is yours. As you mentioned you have only owned it a few months. If the vehicle is in your name - same result. I suspect spousal support wouldn't get ordered in consideration of your health. However, child support could still be payable.

You can't really worry about her motives. You have bigger fish to fry. Focus on your child and your child's best interest. In regards to the police involvement, make arrangements to get a copy of all officer notes, police reports etc.

I can't really say much more without more details.
