Who owns it

We were in common law relationship and are now splitting up the belongings. Basically we know who owns what except for things that one of us purchased but was used by both. Example: I bought two kayaks which clearly were intended for both of us but if we sell them who gets the $$

i would make a list of the items in question and take turns picking things. In the case of the kayaks why not each take one?
