  • full custody and medical/academic info/records

Hello - good morning , i have a quick question regarding custody laws here in ontario:
I have full custody of our 4 year old daughter for a year now, and my ex is demanding full academic/medical records claiming he is entitled to them. Is this true and am I obligated to provide him with these?
If anyone has an answer or even maybe some online info i can find (i've been looking all over for answers) that would be great,....thank you very much.

Yes, according to the Children's Law Reform Act.

    Access
<!-- TRANSIT - HYPERLINK --><!-- .réforme du droit de l'enfance (Loi portant), L.R.O. 1990, chap. C.12. -->(5) The entitlement to access to a child includes the right to visit with and be visited by the child and the same right as a parent to make inquiries and to be given information as to the health, education and welfare of the child. R.S.O. 1990, c. C.12, s. 20 (5).

Why would you deny his requests? Seems logical to ask about the well being of his/your child.

Holy crap - why would he have to demand them? What's your problem?

No actually you are the dinkyface sweetheart (what are you 12?).

Why in the world are you questioning this? Your ex has every right to see medical/academic records.

                    Short Answer: Yes

Long Answer: Give him the contact information for the school/Doctor/Dentist/etc and let him gather it his own damn self.

I have sole custody and my ex is entitled to all the above information. As their father it is his right. When it comes to decision making though I am to consult him in all major issues but have final say. Hope this helps

Yes, your ex is entitled to have academic and medical records of your daughter.
No, you are not obligated to give him copies. He can request copies from the school and doctor himself.
I scan and email copies of the report cards to my ex. I haven't given him any medical copies because quite simply, I don't have copies given to me. My ex is free to contact the doctors and request copies of their medical reports if he wishes.
Make it easy for yourself -- give him copies of what you receive (report cards) and give him the contact information for the authorities from which you don't receive reports (medical/dental).
