I'm seeking some assistance in obtaining a simple "joint application" preferably divorce. My agreement specifies that any application for divorce is to be uncontested.

I'd like to complete this on my own. seems relatively simple but I do not want to waste time or any $$ on a lawyer (assume this is possible). I live in Ontario and understand that I need to complete the following
    • An Application (Divorce)- Form 8A - do I need a lawyer to sign - it looks like i do according to this form ?
    • An Affidavit of Service- Form 6B - is this needed if it's a joint application
    • A Registration of Divorce Proceeding Form
I found this link How to Prepare an Uncontested Divorce by Simple Application

Do I just need to follow this ?

What was the easiest method that you took to obtain your divorce ? My and ex and i have been apart for 21 months, we have a signed agreement. i want closure and want to get this done.

    Any info would be helpful.

    Thanks

You don't need a lawyer. Those sections are if you have a lawyer and it's already going through the lawyer's office, but it is not necessary. There is a line further down that says "Your lawyer, if you are represented."

You don't need to serve your ex if it is joint, this is the whole point to doing it joint really.

The instructions at that link are for an uncontested divorce. I know this is confusing, but there is a difference between uncontested and joint. Please use this link for instructions for joint divorce.

Just a quick note of gratitude for your advice. Following this link http://www.fathers-resources.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=3RNnntnudQk%3D&tabid=501 &mid=1405 provided me with my divorce.

Form 8 A was completed along with the application for clearance ($ @ 180). This took about 8 weeks and then filed Forms 25A and 36 ($ 280).
Waiting for final divorce certificate however I recommend to all members that you include language in your seperation agreement that neither party can contest a divorce and that costs be shared.

This was a very simple process to finally end things once and for all.
