As some of you may have already read, I'm still pursuing my divorce after 7 years..needless to say I'm about ready to pull my hair out.
So it would see we are now almost finished but..my lawyer told me that before it can be 'set down' they need a letter and half the disburments fee from my ex ( the disbursement fee thing was agreed upon in the initial agreement in 1999). This letter is to indicate ( at least my understanding anyways) is that he agrees that he will not pursue matters further and is content with our agreement ( I can't rememeber what the heck the lawyer called this document some kind of 'relief' thing, forgive my ignorance)
So I called my ex told him, he went to his lawyer. I talked to him shorlty after and he said he signed the document and he would mail my lawyer a cheque for the disbursment fee. Which I said fine..a week later I asked him if he had mailed the cheque and he said yep cheques in the mail. Okay..so it sounds all great right? Well yesterday when I talked to him I asked him if he has spoken with his lawyer lately and he said he got a copy of the letter..and the cheque..from his lawyer??? But he told me he had to mail it to my lawyer..said specifically that it was to be made out to my lawyer and he would drop it in the mail on his way to work?
When I asked him about this he just kinda went dumb on me and acted like he didn't know what I was talking about.
I have the distinct feeling this isn't over yet..can anyone tell me if this sounds right. I did put a call into my lawyers office yesterday, but she is on deadline so I left her a voicemail.
I feel like I'm going to lose it any day now..how can something take so freaking long..there are people out there divorced and remarried and divorced yet again before I even have mine finalized.
