  • Last minute advice please!

I am meeting my ex tomorrow regarding shared custody (that's what I want). Our respective lawyers will be present. Any advice please!

It is very difficult to offer any advice without knowing full facts. Generally speaking, you have every right to be with your kids just as your ex does. Keep the children's best interest in mind while negotiating the custody and child support.

I am a firm beliver in shared/equal custody arrangements, it requires an effort and work form both parents and many sacrifices. I truly belive if done right is the absolte best option for the children to have both parents actively involved in thier lives. There are many differing opinions on this subject.

Make sure the lawyers are not just agreeing with eachother just to make a quick settlement..(like in my case) you have more rights then what they lead you to believe....read through the child support guidelines...From my experience these guide lines break our human rights.... hopefully things get fixed

First meeting aborted... she brought my little one to her lawyer's office saying she couldn't find a babysitter. I decided that it wasn't fair for her to be outside waiting for us. I felt so bad for my little one. I apologize to her. Then her lawyer tried to b.s. mine saying it was ok! My ex is a control freak. I suspect PAS syndrom. We will meet again in August. I was really apprehensive about that meeting but after seeing what she did, I will do whatever it takes to get what I want... my little one. Nathank,,, can you be more specific about child support guidelines please?

              Thanks for your suggestions.

Well i had a look at childrenwith2homes.ca have a look at that... also i will give you some links here...when it comes to child support they will try to tell you that you take what your table amount is and subtract her table amount from yours to find what you will pay for child support but in the guidlines it says that you may deduct the increased cost of living now that you are paying for more since your daughter is there more..you will still find things to be unfair..but thats just the way it is... maybe print these out and see what your lawyer has to say about it...

CanLII - Federal Child Support Guidelines, SOR/97-175

                have a look at rules 9 (a) (b)

                NEXT
also...look at (9) maximum contact states a child must have maximum contact between each former spouse...which means automatically 50/50 split shared custody... this kind of thing should never have to go to court or even lawyers.

                CanLII - Divorce Act, R.S.C. 1985, c. 3 (2nd Supp.)

Let me know if you want more info...i am full of tips and problems...that i have already gone through...sorry you may have to go through the same thing
