  • Hiding assets before declaring bankruptcy

My girlfriend's ex may declare bankruptcy to avoid paying a lot child support payments to her. I know child support payments aren't exempt from bankruptcy, but can he not just put his vehicles in someone else's name to avoid having them repossessed?

I could be way off base here , but I was told by a lawyer that as long as there was no litagation action against you that you could transfer ownerships

My ex called me at work one day and said .."by the way I am on my way to declare bankruptcy." He still has his brand new motorcycle and his truck....yes you can transfer any item in your possession into someone else's name prior to the declaration.

Also I am sorry to say that it may have an adverse affect on any back support owed too. My ex was given 2 years to pay me back $1200. Be quick and be wise. I wasn't and now...I wait and wait and wait.
