  • Spousal Support; Retroactive?

A quickie question (searched but had not found); is or can SS be retroactive to the separation date? Is this a regular practice or case-by-case?
    Thank you

SS can be retroactive to as far back as the separation date, but there are a ton of factors to be considered by the courts. Each case is different and each judge is different.

Spousal Support can be retroactive from the date you filed a application in the court.I was separated in Dec 2005 and the first application was filed in June 2006.So as per my lawyer I was eligible for the retro ss and cs only from june 2006.
