  • You can be an observer at a virtual hearing! (zoom trial)

Not many seem aware of that so I figured that I'd post about it. I highly recommend observing a few trials before heading to court:

Members of the public can request access to be a public observer for a trial that is happening over zoom. This is covered by the Open Court Principle (https://www.ontariocourts.ca/scj/not...9/notice-east/ )

To do so, the appropriate trial coordinator must be contacted for which the email addresses are available here:
    https://www.ontariocourts.ca/ocj/cov...ail-addresses/

I'm hoping that this helps a few people!

It’s not automatically allowed in every situation. At one of our multitude of motions we attended prior to the courts closing , there were a gaggle of law students assembled on the bench wanting to observe. I objected and the judge immediately asked them to leave.
