Is evidence gathered by a Private Investigator Admissible in court

Hi community,

Issue 1:

1. STBX has bought my half of a hobby farm.
2. She does not live there and Is very distant from it.
3. I have very good reason to believe she has rented it out and is not reporting the income.

Issue 2:

4. STBX also claims she cannot work. Spends alot of time at casinos now.
5. I wouldn't care, except she is claiming she can't work to increase claims for spousal support.


Question:

Can I hire a PI to gather evidence of her behaviors for both issues? Would this evidence be admissible in court ?

It is way less expensive to have income imputed.

Get a quote from a reputable PI (one that a law firm uses) and see what they have to say. I'm sure you will faint when you find out just how expensive they are. Retainers for PIs can make lawyer's retainers look childish.

Are you in regular contact (email/text) with your ex? You should stop doing that if you are. She's probably just having a ball getting a rise out of you.

I could have hired a PI years ago when my ex and I were first separated. I checked it out and the costs involved just didn't justify it. I much prefer to have the free MEP Alberta do my collecting for me.

You need to get it sorted out and then move on with your life. You sound a tad litigation-happy. One month you are chomping at the bit to go to court on your adult children's behalf and now you want to hire PIs etc?
