Much of my communication with my STBX has been with SMS text messages. I am not able to extract them easily from my phone, but can cut and paste messages into a document. Is this acceptable? Does anyone have experience with this?

Good Advice May.
Text messages are rarely looked by the judge. Too time consuming, and becasue they are usually a running conversation they may have to read a lot just to figure out what is going on. (my submissions for this would equal almost 100 pages in 6 months)
The true value of test messages (I think) is using them in communications with the ex and their lawyer. Show the lawyer in their clients own words just what "proof" you have against them, and you may just find your self closer to a settlement.
At least that is my use for them

Just make sure to get the phone #, date and time included.
The screen shot feature is very handy indeed

Txt msgs on a Blackberry can be forwarded as emails. But to continue a thread, some cut and paste is required. I start it as a draft email to myself and then had to go back and forth to retrieve (copy) the texts..
There were several text msgs (and emails) produced in both mine and my ex's Trial Briefs. They definitely got looked at.
Definitely **emails** are best!!

Stop with the SMS now. SMS is not admissible evidence. Good luck proving it actually exists and was from the originator.
