  • Dallas due for a revolution

To get the whole city of Dallas moving in the right direction, the city is going to need a revolution – a revolution in its mindset and a revolution at the polls. And this kind of a revolution is what all candidates are promising their voters at the Dallas Mayor Campaign. The candidates assure the voters that the revolution is just a matter of putting the right people in the right place. The Mayor is always given the lion’s share of the blame for the problems in the city. But the mayor is not the only problem but part of a systemic problem with which the city has been burdened for years.

It was obvious from the activities of the previous years that the council people on both sides of the river leave a lot to be desired. The situation is however expected to change in the turnover resulting from the 2007 election. The 2007 elections are anticipated to bring a new attitude to the entire council, not just a few spirited members. The ‘vote for me and I will vote for all your stuff no matter how ridiculous the project’ attitude must stop. A lot of unbelievable projects get passed on the consent agenda on vote ratios like 14-1 or 13-2, meaning there is basically no discussion so they vote on all of it once.

Such a change of attitude in the members of the city council is one of the changes that the Dallas mayor candidate Darrell Jordan promises to bring about once he is mayor.
