  • health and dental care...

    Hi everyone again,

my situation is very slowly changing, but really seems like just more of the same.

Most recent developments and questions that I have :

    1. Our son was prescribed a very low dose of ADD meds by a psychiatrist, after evaluation. I have started treatment, but ex doesn`t agree with these medications and refuses to give them to our son during his week. I have suggested to supplement the treatment with a more natural/holistic approach. I am willing to pay for whatever amount not covered by insurance. He refuses to respond or discuss the issue in any way. I feel that we MUST address the issue, as to if we will give the meds or not, and if not WHAT plan we should have for our son. He is shut tight like a clam. Any advice??

    2. We have a somewhat similar situation with our daughter, who is having orthodontic problems. We are in the process of trying to get a second opinion (I gave him a deadline -2 months- to find another dentist, after that, I will find a second dentist myself.) Basically, we will need to decide if we want to start a long-term orthodontic treatment now, or wait until she is older, have surgery and fix everything in a short-term span. The issue is not so much deciding on the plan itself, but getting him to discuss such plan.

I am usually pro-active when it comes the the children`s health, so I am the one to make the appointments and attend them. (He is informed of every appointment, but does not show up to them.) However, when comes time to discuss treatment, he refuses to comply or discuss, saying he hasn`t had a chance to chat with the doctor/dentist/specialist, etc... Such doctors are very willing to take a phone call from him to discuss. He doesnt call them.

We need to discuss health/dental care for our children. We can`t postpone these issues forever. Any advice? Other than being very frustrating, I must think of the children`s well-being. Some issues require attention.

    Help. and Thanks

    How old are the kids?

Do either of you carry insurance that will cover the ortho work? Re:limits ortho you may want to get the specialist to put the treatment plan in writing and give your ex a set period of time to either agree, or provide reasons, backed by a professional as to why he disagrees. If he does neither, you proceed with treatment and if he refuses to cover the cost, you file motion with the court to have him pay his share.
