  • Trial Date set by ex-Supreme Court, what to do next

Received a Notice of Trial form from ex for 4 days in bc supreme court.

I was never asked about the date or the length of the trial.
I want to change the date and push it out by 6 months. How do I do that? Lawyer says I need to give him $20K to handle trial.
Apparently Many documents need to be filed prior to the trial and there will be a Pre-Trial Conference to attend and Trial Certificate to prepare and file.

I want to self represent and would like to know what the process is: what forms, documents to file, how far before etc. has anyone had experience with that ?
When I go to the trial date is that when they set the pre-trial and what follows after.

How are the new court rules coming later this year affecting my case ? is it better to wait or act sooner.
Ex is self representing. Ex has CS case against me and I have a property division against ex.
