  • Lawyer's legal obligation at trial

I heard somewhere that your lawyer can not drop you as a client for non-payment of fees if you are close to trial. Has anyone else heard of this? If it is true, how close to trial do you have to be ? Or do you have to be already at trial?

To my knowledge, lawyers don't go to trial until some or all money is paid.
