  • WHAT CAN I DO???...please HELPME

its been quite awhile since I have been on here and I was very happy to say that after a year court everything has settled from the fallout from my EX, the house closed on June 14th 2013 and I made it clear for her to not contact me in any way shape or form....for months I have been happily putting my life back together until recently. Now I discovered my EX has supplied my personal cell # to her bill collectors, given out my address to them as well (I use my parents house as mailing address and she could of only got all that info off court documents and for the icing on the cake she is sending me msgs on a social/dating website. I have contacted the police on a few occasions and the most recent was told its a civil matter, I cannot afford another lawyer....PLEASE PLEASE help me....(I have around 1400 text msgs saved from her making disgusting, derogatory and insulting comments and accusations but only from June 15th 2013 back)

change your cell phone number and dont give it to anyone who would give it to the ex.

These bills are they yours or hers? If they are hers then call and do a follow up letter stating they are going after the wrong person (provide proof) and then tell them if they contact you again over such matters then you will contact authorites for harassement.

Tell her once that if she keeps it up you will file a complaint for harrassment.

As for the dating website, contact the admin of the site and report it to them to see what they will do.

we have no joint debt, everything was paid off in both our names, and when it did exist it was the address for the house we owned, I cannot change my cell # as it is my primary phone and have multiple medical specialists, she knows this as tried to use my health against me in court, if relevant I was on life support a few times. The problem with the bill collectors is I have explained the situation to them but since her debt only the will not even tell me for what debt it is she owes...it was 4yrs of hell then another year in court. I am trying to just move on with my life. I will try to figure out how to contact the admin for the site to see if they can help, Thank you very much!!!

I just changed my phone last week. You send an email to your contacts with your new number. Your medical specialists all have offices with email, postal delivery, answering machines, secretaries, etc. Just do it.

I had a few bill collectors start calling my cell for stbx's NEW non-joint, post separation debt.

Everytime they called, I told them I was her ex husband, I told them that we have not lived together for well over a year, I have no idea of her finances, nor of her employment status, but I have her last known address, a cell phone number for her and her parents phone number (heheh).

Everytime they called, they got the same speech from me - id even add, do i sound like a woman to you? The calls from creditors stopped within a month, and the letters stopped within 3 months.

I wrote "no such person at this address" on the front of the collection letters, and put them in the mail. Not my bills, so i didnt stress about it - would be no different if it was a bill collector with the wrong number.

that has nothing to do with what is going on.

My god you have such an easy problem to solve and you act like its the end of the world.

What is it you are looking for? It seems like you just want a way to punish her for what she did.

                  You have two choices really.

You can use your time dealing with phone calls from ex's creditors, calling the police, opening mail, etc.

Or you can use your time to change your number and call your medical teams to say here is my new number.

How you use your time is your own choice. Acting like you need HELP! HELP! likely won't garner too much sympathy.

If you don't want to change your cell number, at least change the voicemail so that callers hear something like "if you are trying to reach Ex, this is not her number and messages will not be forwarded. Ex can be reached at 123-456-7890". Then let all incoming calls go to voicemail. That's what I had to do with a former student who used my office number on his payday loan and pawnshop papers ...
