So divorce was 9 years ago and assets were hidden but divulged a year later. The hidden asset was put in the childs name and the other parent was named given access to the RRSP so nothing could be removed without their conscent. Can the parent now 8 years later sue because of non disclosure at time of divorce?

The limitations time begins ticking from when the claim was discovered.

If it was discovered eight years ago, why has nothing been done since?

She was fine with her being able to see the account and that it was not used and agreed to that. Now she is going through financial issues and is threatening to sue unless given some sort of settlement. What that is at this point is unclear. She has stated that the only way to make it go away is to talk to her and come to an agreement but from lawyer and police advisement he has stopped all communication.

People face difficulties more often then they would like in their lives. If she ceases bringing it up then I would let the matter lie.

If she continues to raise the point, you may wish to cite the case of Separated Nine Years Ago v. Not My Problem.
