  • Financial statements for last 3 years if only married 2 years?

Do you have to provide financial statements going back the last 3 years to your spouse if you were only married for the last 2 years?

    Thanks,
    JF

Logical question since,if you are an employee, any child support or spousal support payable will be based on your current Line 150 of your Notice of Assessment. But it seems some people have a fluctuating income and they have to average it to get a fair annual income. That might be the reason or else because the rule says so.

Everyone has to provide it, but three years was intended to look at income patterns for those not on fixed incomes (commissions, self employment, etc). Sometimes courts will average incomes over three years in attempt to arrive at "fair" judgments, if there is such a thing!
