  • 13 months and waiting

On February 22, 2006 my wife got a Court Order for further disclosure, and discoveries. My lawyer sent her lawyer a financial statement, which turned out to be a much less equalization settlement, because I am now excluding a Condo I purchased before I got Married, and sold while I was married. We are excluding the money I had invested in it, which is substantial amount.
I have not heard anything from her Lawyer yet. My question is what should I do? I spoke to my Lawyers secretary today and she said that they will follow-up. I feel my ex has run out of money and her Lawyer wants to get paid. How can I get to process in motion without jeopardizing the case? I still have not got a separation agreement or came up with a figure for spousal support or a figure for equalization payment. I feel bad my ex is living in subsidized housing while I’m still in the home. It’s been 13 months since she left and nothing has changed. The wait is killing me I just want closure in this whole mess.

FBI, I know how you feel about the "wait", but unfortunately 13 months is not a long time in Family Law. If issues are going to be contested, as in your case the average time is between 2 to 5 years.

I know this is difficult to do but try to move on in other areas of your life, or you will not survive. Keep busy, join a gym, start a new hobby anything to keep your mind not always focused on this.

Patience is a virtue in Family Law.
