  • Does it bother you?

    Hello ALL

Every time I come to court I have to go thou security check. Everything out from pocket, metal detector, bags checked.

But than you see lawyer going thou like it his backyard. Why by default I am the person who is bad and lawyer is not?

Why is that? So from very first step into court house they show you that you are less human than lawyer?

I do not know about you but that make me feel bad. Especially when I have to fight for my son not be able to afford lawyer,

Nope - just seems logical. We are the ones with the screws against our heads, ready to pop at any moment. The lawyers are the ones raking in $250-$500 per hour, and feeling just fine.

Nice sarcasm ... Still not funny thou
What about if someone force lawyer to pop up? Make him to do things? Like in movies some people kidnept some family member and ask person to follow instruction?

      I am just speculating here.
Even from that prospective it's security breach. But again it looks like that not about security - just to show you that if you are not lawyer you are nobody there....

Doesn't bother me in the least.
The lawyers are most likely familiar faces and voices at the courthouse every day. I'm one of the general public.
I for one, am grateful for the security entering the courthouse. There are some scary people wandering the hallways there. Some of the juvenile offenders -- I like to keep away from them as much as possible when waiting and waiting and listening to some horrible things that leave me wondering why I'm there.
When you start appearing more often, you still have to go through security, but the police and clerks start recognizing you (you know you're going to courthouse too often then and when you're able to direct potential jurors to the jury room etc.!)
I never considered myself "bad" for going into the courthouse and going through security. People entering the courthouse for any reason have to go through security and that's the way it should be. It's to protect you and every person in the courthouse (though mostly the lawyers and Judges and personnel, cause they are the ones who are most likely to be attacked by temporarily insane court user).

Pretty sure you'd feel MUCH worse if someone turned up with a gun or other weapons.

No doubt but my point was Rules and especially Laws should be the same for everybody.

Why pilots have to go through security every time? They also familiar faces and work there )

I get what you're saying, but honestly if this is the part of the process that bothers you the most I'd say you should be thankful things are going as well as they are.

                Just saying

Lot's of things in life aren't fair. Life will never be fair.

Well, in reality, the courthouse is the lawyer's backyard. Lawyers are granted privileges that most other citizens are not.

In retrospect, a visitor to my office has to go through two levels of security checkpoints and, if not departmental, must be escorted. Me? I just walk through and say "good morning."

I understand your point, but I believe that Court and Office are little bit different from my point of view.

Depends on where you work. If your 'office' happens to be at CSIS, Public Safety, DND, RCMP or other similar federal government departments there isn't much difference at all.

People go through this several times a day, every day, just to get in and out of work....to protect people like you who have to go through it a few times in their lifetime. I'd suggest you get over it, appreciate the safety it provides you while you're there, and focus on something important like the WHY you are there.

                              I know that
But everything is important and part of the system. All depends how you look at each part.

I remember my first meeting in court with lawyer and mediator.
                              I asked them:

I can not understand one simple thing! Why I am here? Why I can not see my son? I did not do anything wrong to him and to be honest to his mum too except one thing - did not marry her. There is LAW what states 50/50. I am not asking anything what I do not ha rights by LAW

Why I have to prove now that I am not monkey?. What happened with fundamental "Not innocent before proven guilty". Why somebody can just put bunch of lies on a paper and that enough to ruin somebody life?

So they listen listen and respond was just brilliant. All you said is right and we understand you but THAT HOW IT WORK IN THAT BUILDING!

So lets change #$@%^&&& building than.

Whole that bullshit really mess me up. I came to Canada 5 years ago. I spent 5 years just for immigration process. My believe was that here everybody equal before Law not like in my home country... So it's took me good 6 month just to stop asking myself everyday - WHY THE HELL I CAME HERE THAN ? DID ALL THOSE STRUGGLE WAS FOR NOTHING ?

I am telling you: Lawyers, bankers and doctors KILLING THAT COUNTRE

May be not on topic but it;s family law - it;s not a law and Rules just...
