  • changing the deed?

Since the house is in my husband's name.....is it possible for him to not sell the home, but put it in someones elses name, so I cannot claim any equity as a marital home?

I also know he has hidden alot of funds in personal RRSPs and his business which I assume is protected.

He could try and have the deed changed. Is your name on the mortgage? Even if he did, it would be easily traceable through a search in the land registry office. It would be seen as a dirty tactic.

yes all you have to do is get a title search for about $8-it shows all transactions on property. 'They' were talking about changing title searches so that it wouldn't be available to the public but I'm not sure if they pursued it any further. Even so, it can be available through a court-order

Even if this is no longer available to the general public, the lawyers have access to it. I don't think you need a court order.

          hmmmmmmm

So if I feel this is a possibility, and the deed is changed will I really loose claim to the marital home? even though I could provide reems of paperwork for both myself and husband with the home address?

I can't force him to add my name to the mortgage.
