  • Declaring Child, income tax

I understand the "payor" may not claim a child as a dependent. I cases of 50/50 shared custody (such as mine) normally one parent earns more than the other. So one parent pays the other the difference, at least in my case. The way the minutes and court order are written up is that she pays me $ amount per guidelines and me same to her. In the end I end up paying her the difference because I earn more, we both pay each other, except I pay more. This would apprear to make me a "payor". Our verbal agreement is to alternate each year, this being my year to claim, I did and was accepted.....so far. Should I expect any problem if Revenue Canada looks into it?????
