  • How does nonpaying parent get served?

So my ex has a default hearing court date. My caseworker told me to call her back in a couple of weeks for an update (the court date is a little over a month from now). I didn't think to ask her how he gets served. Do they have to serve him in person or through the mail?

Also, why would I need an update 2 weeks or so before the hearing? What can change?

Any ideas about what I expect from here? I have no idea how all of this is going to go.

    Thanks.

He gets served the same way as any other court document. Usually via a process server or registered letter.

You'd need an update in case he decides to make arrangements with them before the court date. In which case they'd cancel the hearing.
