    what is this , is it someonething someone does on their own
    in the courts ,
    is not what is the legally procedure for something like this
    what are the options to the other individual for responding
    do they get any notice of what the 1st person is requesting
    and given the option to fight it or respond?
    just alittle confused

    Take a look at this post by LV in another thread.

    Please also take a look at the Guide to Family Procedures in the Superior Court of Justice. I personally find this link very useful. Part 5: Motions breaks down the motion process very well and it's easy to understand.

    If you need someone to walk you though it, try giving your local Family Law Information Centre a call (an extension at your local court house). The staff there are not lawyers, but they are very helpful with answering general questions about family procedures. If you can show up in person, even better. Discussing matters by phone can be confusing, and you could end up playing a long game of telephone tag.
