she decided to retire at 52? I am thinking that her decision to do that should affect the SS. I am thinking that her Cl status probably does not have as much clout in getting the payments stopped as her retiring does. Was it a voluntary retirement or some sort of company restructuring??

The shear fact that she has made the decision to retire at the tender age of 52 "clearly" states that she is financially stable. If she was still just getting by or things were not stable she would not be able to retire so young (respectively). If I were going to make the decision to retire at 52 you can bet that I'd be making sure I had the financial ability to make it through the rest of my life, and I would hope that I still had allot of years left. Doesn't that make sense?
And her co-habitation PLUS decision to retire (stress this point) is indeed a material change in circumstances that would warrant a review of your SS obligation, something you can do on your own without a lawyer.
Visit your local court house for guidance eon the forms to file, how to fill them out, the deadlines for serving/filing and you’ll do just fine!
