HI there, I ran into this site and find it interesting and hope it may enable me to ask a question I have.

I have a 17 year old daughter in Winnipeg that is graduating in June 2011. She resides there with my ex wife and I live in Nova Scotia. My daughter is apparently enrolled in a College full time program in the fall of 2011. When I ask my ex wife what college she is attending, she says my daughter does not want me to know. I have always paid my child support on time and this does not seem right to me. Is there a way to find this out? I always thought she was obligated to provide me proof of the schooling as it may influence how long I have to pay child support for. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

If you're paying for (part of) the education you have a right to know. In fact, they have to show you the bills.

If your daughter truly doesn't want you to know, wish her well and hope she comes around.

My father left a life insurance policy that is taken care of by an executor after he passed away. The bills go through them for schooling as far as I know, however they do not want to get in the middle of everything. Am I not entitled to find out if she is actually in a full year program as I do pay child support?

I thought so as well. How do you go about doing this? Perhaps time to get a lawyer to send her a letter. My daughter turns 18 in Dec 2011. I am almost unwilling to pay anything pass September unless I see proof of this, but that will only cause more grief for me.

I don't believe you can just cease making your child support payments without consent from the receipient, or a court order.

If you do, you will be subject to payment enforcement measures.

no idea if this would work or not. but maybe put the child support payment into a seperate account (in trust - as it were) until you are shown the proof.
That way you could say to the judge that you were setting the money aside but not paying without proof?
