I'm trying to help my common-law spouse thru some support issues. He accumulated some arrears during a two year period that he was unemployed. His arrears accumulated at the rate of $712.00 per month for 2 children. He didn't file for a change in the amount of support he had to pay based on his change in income which he has since learned he should have. He has been paying support for the past 8 years based on an income of $53,000.00 but has never earned more than 30,000.00 since then, being self-employed his income has varied from year to year....and he has been totally honest in reporting his income....no hidden cash income! It's all coming to a head Nov 18th (we hope) but he has an interim payment of $10,000.00 due 18 September 2008 and absolutely no way to pay it. So I'm overwhelmed and just trying to sort it all out.

I wouldnt worry too much, if this goes to court the Judge will most likely erase the back payment. The FRO recently took my ex to court and was only looking for 1/2 the arrears to be paid. And btw, not to me, but welfare.
