Default Separating & have a 2 yr old and am 7 months pregnant

Hi - any ladies here that went through this or are going through a similar situation? I feel so lost and don't know what to do.

It makes it worse because I don't have any trust in their father to care for them on his own.

You will get very wide ranging opinions on here, filter them a little and then the majority are probably about right.

Brace yourself because some of the opinions may even seem harsh to you, give those ones a good long thought.

A lot more information is really needed. Length of marriage, province of residence, incomes before kids born, incomes now, etc etc.

First of all, take a deep breath and keeps your wits about you. It will be ok.

Second of all don't leave the matrimonial home (assuming you are not in some sort of legitimate danger there).

Third of all set up consultations with a few lawyers in your area, they usually do a 30 or 60 minute consultation for free. When you do this go there with facts and researched questions, this is likely the only time lawyers will do anything for you for free, don't waste it on emotional BS. Be wary of any Lawyer who promises you the moon.

Now on to the most obvious outstanding question, why is it you can't trust the father with the children on his own? Please do not say because he never cared for the 2 year old before etc etc. Before the child was born you never took care of your own child before either. Unless there is a legitimate and provable reason I suggest you drop that line from your mind. And proof is a high bar.

If he acknowledges on his own that he does not want custody and only wants some prescribed access that is one thing, your claim that he can't be trusted is weak sauce unless you have the above mentioned PROOF.

What are your respective financial situations like?

Is there a specific reason you have little trust in the father?
