Hi everyone. To cut it short, my gf got an e-mail from her lawyer that the divorce has been finalized and will soon send her final certificate of divorce and the lawyer has requested the final certificate of divorce (from his lawyer ) and will send it to her via mail. That was 4 weeks ago. I thought court sends it but maybe it is different when you have a lawyer. Her ex H was notified about this 2 weeks before my gf did. Fine, maybe it is because he is the one who filed for divorce and his lawyer is "more in charge for those papers". However, he recieved the final Certificate of Divorce some 2 weeks ago and my ex hasn't yet. We thought these final documents get mailed out at the exact same day. My ex can't contact her lawyer because her lawyer sent the bill to legal aid already. So, is it normal that 1 party gets final certificate of divorce before the other?
Thank you very much. |

Why not just order a copy? You usually have to pay for the actual certificate. Your lawyer may simply have sent HIS lawyer a request to have a copy provided and they haven't gotten around to it yet.
No reason you can't simply locate the forms and send them off. Ministry of the Attorney General - How to get a copy of a Divorce Order, Certificate of Divorce or other court document |
