Default Reducing the Lawyer's bill - photo copies - providing financial disclosure to the ex.

Aagain thanks for your thoughts in advance.....

I talked to my lawyer's office "specialist" - as she is a team of one....actually there is three doing different things but "team of one" sounded really good!" and she does all the billing.

to the point - I asked how can i reduce costs and she is willing to let me do this - first off is photo copies.

How many copies am I supposed to give with the 13.1?

I have so much in terms of financial, bank account records going back years (some of my exclusions go all the way back to 1988) so I worked hard at showing that these monies were not wasted but put into rrsp's as much as possible - then put into a seperate savings mutual fund account.

My disclosure to the ex - Will I need to give my ex a copy of every single page I found all over the house and now have in three seperate file boxes, in seperate files all in in order, or just what my lawyer wants filed, or by what she asks for??? Anyone have an understanding of how many and what I need to plan for in terms of copies........and disclosure to my ex, the lady who gave me an excell file with about 20 entries - that was her disclosure!

I Need to replace my really nice copier - ex won't let me have mine!
Ex will not release my highspeed scanner copier the HP Top of the line model with 100 page paper feeder but I thought fighting and paying the lawyer just not worth it or the fight right now? - Or is it?

Nothing used at this time so if I do not fight, I need to go find one.... I would like to get a machine that can do the work needed. ) any suggestions?

I don't know how many copies you will need, this is probably a question for the office specialist.

If I were you I would cost out the price of the paper and ink you would need and compare it to the cost of having everything copied at Staples or Kinkos.

The more you copy the cheaper it is. Because of your time issues, this may be more cost effective for you overall.

Generosity - This Post is in Honour of A Husband and Wife
(to me - this story is worth every word)

Last week i posted about my wishing for my printer and the big war starting so I just went on Kijiji and "bought" a turns out to be a really nice Brother colour laser with full toner for what should have been $100 (and he brought me three packs of paper to use for all the copies I would be needing). He delivered, set it up, got it configured and printing from Word.
His wife came and I brought her a chair and we chatted and they asked questions while everthing was getting fixed up, I was honest when they looked at me, my room, all the papers!!

I went to the bank, a special trip first to get the money, before telling him he could come over with the printer......... and I thought I paid him.

Three days later I find money in my "pill bag". This is the time when comunication broke down when the EX made problems about anything "personal making its way to dad" and sorry, I told my kids they were trying to be nice but I wasn't going to let them be poisoned and I backed 100% off and asked them to not force this issue. Everything stopped for about a week. Did one of my kids drop money in the bag to help Dad out to pay for his medications?? Then I thought of the printer and I softly asked him - he said everything was fine. Three days later my message went...."I am going crazy trying to figure this out and why this money was in the bag...........

The fellow finally said (admitted???), that as they pulled into thier driveway only a few blocks from my motel he told his wife we did not exchange the money, he could not come back to ask for it. At the same time, he and his wife said, "That guy, they saw me in my room, learned why I was here - they decided they would rather I keep the printer money to eat or do something else good in my life - to them they believed the money was "in the correct hands and would not accept payment". I thanked these people for their kindness and generousity....... and nothing I could do or say to them could equall what they decided to do except my promise to get through this and to begin over, to be the best dad I can be with my children.

I will always remember.

I work in a law firm, and wouldn't trust anyone to do my copies/schedules for me. Have you actually asked the lawyer and/or the paralegal if this works for them? I'm a little anal.

If I'm putting together schedules, in quadruplicate, to distribute, I want control of those schedules, so I know they are complete for every party. It would or could take me several hours to sort through what you drop off to ensure it is correct, and copied appropriately. You understand that, right?

And our bookkeeping tells clients stoopid crap all the time, that doesn't really apply. There is a reason they are bookkeepers.

I spoke to the person who does the work - but I suppose I am the anal type too (not to say that helps and it stands true to how important every page is there and is right). I see them tomorrrow and I shall bring it up with the lawyer as well. It works or it doesn't. I am doing stuff digitally so they get the digital when I can....reminds me (I crashed here a few hours ago...... been sucha hard time these past weeks but I printed everything out so it is all a go! to email a bunch to the lawyer for tomorrow) thks for the heads up and perhaps the right questions to ask.
