Separation and divorce is painful.

A realty fee will almost certainly be paid when the spouse buying the other spouse out moves. If the idea is to place a value on the asset, well the value is affected by the fee. Again, remember that the ultimate fee will be 5%, which is often reduced to 2.5%. Furthermore it's pretty standard for the spouse that is buying out the other spouse to pay the legal and mortgage fees relating to the buyout. I did.

well that makes more sense to me then... the legal and mortgage fees would offset the moving expenses....
