Default Indexing of support?

Hi all, new to this forum . Need some help.I wanted to know what does indexing of spousal support mean? Once I figure this out I will have many more questions.

It generally means that any support payments are adjusted (usually yearly) in accordance with the rate of inflation. So, if you pay $1000 per month in year 1 and in year 2, the inflation rate is 2%, then your support payments would change to $1,020 per month.
