Default Getting let go becuz of FRO!

My ex keeps claiming that he is being "let go" from employers once they are informed he is involved with FRO! He wrote me a text msg the other day - again claiming that the moment he mentioned that FRO would be sending in a package for garnishment, he ended up being let go.
Have you ever heard of this?????

I told my ex that if he felt he was being treated unfairly due to FRO that he should be calling his case working and discussing it with him... no response!

It doesn't really make sense. FRO deducts money from thousands of ppl's cheques. Work places are familiar with the process and their payroll depts are presumably trained to deal with it. Is it a really small company? I don't know - it sounds a little sketchy.

I can't wait to see how they deal with my ex. That's happening soon. He is SELF-employed. Hopefully that's not going to seriously hold things up. I already know he's not going to co-operate.

My ex tried everything to get out of FRO, even changing jobs without informing them. I solved that issue by having him sign a direct debt form at FRO. His payments now come directly out of his bank account and his employer doesn't need to know a thing. If he withdrawls the permission his employer will then be informed and garnishment will resume. He chose to have the payment taken weekly which works for me just fine. Means I don't have to wait to get CS.

As far as being fired for being in FRO. I think he's full of shit. I know that most people thing poorly of payors using FRO because they assume they are a dead beat. Maybe he doesn't like the stigma surrounding it. My current husband registered in FRO against his exes wishes because she was cashing 3 months worth of CS cheques at a time. It was the only solution to get her to stop playing games with his money.

good luck

I did mention that to him, letting him know that the companies he is talking about (there are 3 apparently) are big companies - the last one imparticular employes thousands of people. I reminded him that being let go becuz of FRO is illegal and if he felt he was being mistreated then he should call his case worker - or better yet, bring forth a case against FRO. He said that one of the companies let him go becuz FRO threatened to take them to court if they didn't cooperate!!!!
I spoke with my case manager who insisted that FRO's involvement should hold no responsibility for his job loss, and infact employers are encouraged to cooperate with FRO so that "children" are supported. My case worked also stated that at no time has my ex made contact with them regarding this concern...
He has been trying HARD to be self employeed - lord help me if that ever happens!
The FRO case manager expressed that this excuse is typical for parents who choose to run from their responsibilities, and jump from job to job. VERY FRUSTRATING!

how on earth did you get your ex to agree to bank withdrawl... I can't even trust my ex will deposit money in to his account. And when he jumps from job to job and claims that he is unemployed - then what! My ex has a pattern.. he gets employed, he doesnt tell me or FRO about the job.. he collects every cent. I end up finding out, I contact him, I also contact FRO and then as soon as FRO send off the garnish letter... he is gone! UGH!!!
This crap has been on going for almost 5 years!!!

Jeez. What a pain. Yeah there's noooo way my ex would agree to it coming out of his bank a/c every week. Can't trust him anyway. I have only one hope in this. Good, bad or ugly - my only hope is FRO's involvement.

Neverending: how do you feel about dealing w/the Fro? Are they as helpful as they possibly can be, given your circumstances? Does your case worker respond to you fairly quickly and does she seem totally well versed w/regards to your case? I'm thinking my ex is going to be rude with FRO. Initially, he will ignore them. If/when the time comes that his license gets suspended - if I know he is still driving - do I call them and tell them that? Is it just hit and miss at that point? That he drives along his merry old way and if he gets stopped by police then he's screwed yes, but if he is not stopped, he just carries on with his day?

Your situation IS frustrating! Why isn't his SIN # in a database that FRO can flag (get alerted) when he's changed jobs? Something like that would certainly throw a wrench into his "pattern"

I agree! Our court order states that he is to contribute to child care and sec7 expenses, but he won't.. .so back to court we go in February so that I can just submit receipts to FRO instead of me having to deal with him. He isn't paying now... so what really matters if he continues to go into arrears. At least I have submitted and done my part.

The bottom line is that FRO needs to take action. I would talk to your worker about it and ask them to start proceedings. If he isn't going to pay then I guess he doesn't mind having his license taken away or jail time.

I also know that when I submitted a statement of arrears via FRO they in turn mail my ex a copy. This is another way to confirm that you tried to give them to him.

Agree. FRO should be taking him to Court. Make copies of all your receipts.
