Default Filing bankruptcy

Hello, I have been warned by my ex's first wife and his sister of what was to come. I was told that he will quit his job, file bankruptcy, get rid of everything in order for me to get nothing. He would rather have nothing than me get a single dime. Can he legally do this? This would be his third or fourth bankruptcy? If he was to do this, would his chances of getting sole custody diminish?

The onus would be on you to prove, despite the historical pattern of bankruptcy, that it was primarily to avoid payment to you.

Even the best lawyers would have a tough time proving this in court.
Unless you can get a court order in place before he sold a single asset, then he may not have the moral right, but he would have ample time and physical ability to do so.
You’d have to get a court order in place stating that all assets would be “frozen” until further ordered, and this would be very difficult to do before the fact as it tends to mean that the courts have to speculate on a person’s behaviour and possible actions, and they will not do that.

The only assets he has are the house (in his name only) and two cars. He can't get any credit as he was discharged from bankruptcy in 2006. And his only debt is the mortgage. I guess if he quit his job and couldn't afford the house he would have to file bankruptcy. How many bankruptcies can you file in a lifetime?

not sure if there is any limit on the number of times you can claim bankrupcy. Most people try to avoid it but it seems like he really doesn't care.
