Here is an interesting one, we both make the same money now ,and i am taking the kids with me to live .She wants her own place and the kids agreed to go with me, a little bit more into the story ( bipolar issues on her part) but she says she is o.k. ,so she has a job now full time ,i said i dont want anything from you and she said well i want spousal support from you, I said i dont really think so as i am having the kids live with me and not asking you for any money in any ways and you want to take half of my money and i am going to give the kids a place to live. how does that work ?? , we both make 40 a year ,i did find a calculator before but i cant find it now and all you did was put in your incomes and it came up nice and simple ,,was that in here because i am sure this is where i found it or got forwarded to it, we have two kids ,sold the house and splitting all that up and now starting to do my seperation papers up etc,, as all of you know ,thanks and keep up the good work here..

If you both make the same income, a claim for spousal support from one of you is ridiculous.

The person with the kids should receive child support from the other.

Thanks guys ,, i dont want any support from her even if i am eligiblbe ,couldint be bothered ..i need for her to get on with her life without me and just have visitiation whenever ,but i can see it wont be much.. end of march ,days are counting down.

The support you get from her is not for you...its for the children...they are entitled to it... even if you can do it on your own now...what happens in you suddenly lose your job or something and then need CS? If you don't need it now, set up an RESP account for the children and put the money in there...wouldn't that be a nice thing for your kids to have a bulk of their post secondary expenses paid?

Yes i realize it is for the kids, but i need for her to get back on her feet ,as i can support the kids no problem ,she has had a lot of problems and she needs to reconnect with the kids without the stress of money or hating me to death,i couldnt even begin to tell the story of us ,it would be a movie of the week ,cas involved(and by the way they hate when the father is in the right)police ,coast ,hospital ,fire dept. you name it they are involved.I have been dealing with too many issues and it is time for the kids to enjoy life without worrying about there mother and how she is going to react to something,it is time for a normal life for my kids and myself now.I am trying to tell her not to waste money on lawyers as they will take it all ,it is our money not theres , i am trying also to get her freinds into talking her into buying a condo for herself ,.instead of renting .thanks for the replies and keeep them coming as i am working on a seperation agreement also.. thanks
