Default Walking Docs into Court

Does anyone know what it means to "walk documents" into court. The process server that I used told me to walk my documents into court (specifically my financial statement) as I told her that I didn't think that I would have time to finish it in time to serve my motion materials. I in fact did provide her with my financial statement to serve with my materials but I looked over it and re-did it to make it very precise and was wondering if I can take a revised copy with me to court tomorrow, give it to his lawyer outside of court and tell the judge I served my revised statement. Am I way off base with my understanding of walking it in. She said that lawyers do it all the time.

My experience is that when you arrive on the day of the trial your file is inaccessible because it is with the judge. Court staff will certify your forms but will not file it. I had to wait for a couple of hours after I saw the judge to file my papers. (Which was OK in my case because it was not needed that day.)

Thinking you can arrive early, swear the document before staff, then serve it. After the file gets back to the court staff you can then file your affidavit of service.

Anytime you file anything do ask for a copy of the 'continuing record', saved me a lot of grief. I have been served with stuff that have never been filed.
