Legal Aid Lawyer Info Request

Due to finances I will have to obtain a Legal Aid lawyer. Do most Legal Aid lawyers work as hard for you as non Legal Aid lawyers? Do they get paid less money? He will be helping me obtain access to my 14 month old son.

Most lawyers handle legal aid cases and yes they get paid less, I am not sure of the exact amount, however it is somewhere in the 50-75 dollars an hour range, don't quote me on that. As for the issue of working just as hard, I am still waiting to see one work at all, with the exception of Jeff as I know how much work a site can be. In truth, I think that they will represent you just fine and may give preference to the paying clients over the legal aid clients as lawyers are in the biz for one reason, they may say it is for the work, but very few will work for the satisfaction alone.

As for gaining access to your son, I wish you the best of luck, and I look forward to hearing all about your situation as time goes on. I will look forward to you saying in a post that you got whatever custody/access you are going for.

I have hired a legal aid lawyer to get custody of my husband's 13 month old granddaughter and after seeing him for the first time on June 9 I am still waiting for something to get done. Everytime I talk to him he says that this came up and that came up. The only thing that came up is a higher priced client!! Once you pick a lawyer through legal aid it is very hard to have him or her changed. Do yourself a favor and either try to do it without legal aid or research the lawyer you are interested in beforehand (unlike I did). Good luck with the custody battle. I can honestly say that I know exactly how you feel.
