Default Jewelley appraisal where saying 27,000 engagmemy ring

X has now put in 27,000 of jewelley. Engagement ring and 10 year anniversary ring. Where do I get priced and he is using appraisals from years ago. Certainly not worth that. Pawn shop or jeweler? Can I say here you go. I would only keep them for my daughter. Lawyer said its stricky about it and get price.

I would go to a jeweler, they can provide a written appraisal. I know that my mom needed a written appraisal to properly insure her rings etc.

Not totally sure if this is the case in Canada but if the engagement ring was given to you BEFORE marriage then it is YOURS and not a marital asset. The anniversary ring would probably be considered joint marital asset.

Don't know all the backstory but this is REALLY LOW in my opinion!!

Its not an marital asset. It was a gift. I've read about it before...others have tried it and it doesn't fly.

Gifts to each other during marriage are marital assets in Ontario. Gifts from other people are not.
