My common law partner and I purchased a home in alberta, I left the home only after one year of living together, because he moved his grown daughter in and we did not get along. We are both on title, but his name alone is on the mortgage. He has missed payments and the mortgage company is calling me for payment because I am on title. How do I go about pushing the sale of this house and receiving my share of the equity. Is there a time limit, the reason I was waiting is because of the economy. He is still living there with his daughter and I have been out of the house now for 18 months. We tried to reconcile quite a few times and now I have decided I don't want to at all, and just want out. Am I responsible for these payments even though the mortgage is not in my name and I am not living there.
