Hi LV,

I need your advise regarding my taxes.To day i received a letter from CRA,they are asking proof of my separation when I was in the matrimonial home .Although I met the "90 DAYS SEPARATION" requirement but still they want proof like separate utilities bill,separate renting unit in matrimonial home etc.I have non of these and CRA warned me either to give them proof or they will consider me married.......Even my 2005 tax assessment clearly states my marital status as Separated.I am in a fix and need your advise.

Explain me how to handle this.Is the tax period in Canada from Jan-Dec.Can I send a copy of my and his lawyers

Hey suf,

Send them a Sworn Affidavit (Form 14A) stating the date you moved if you don't have utilities bills etc. You could also send them rent receipts. You could have this Affidavit sworn at the Family Law Information Centre at the nearest courthouse or by your lawyer. At most city halls they also have a commissioner on staff.

Just put your name on the Affidavit and strike or leave blank for the other parties names.

Sorry,I wasn,t clear with my question.CRA is asking me for all the stuff prior to my moving when i was still in the matrimonial home.With my after the move period they are fine....I don't know what to do
