Default Claim against former lawyer

Morning all;

I am trying to put a claim in against my former lawyer.

Essentially, I parted ways with him after seeing that he had taken his fees (fairly high) from money sent to him in trust.

My current lawyer (half the cost, half the age) advised me this was illegal. Hence, disputing the bill.

I went on Ontario Court Services but couldn't find it. (may have missed it). As a subnote, this site has many pertinent forms for individuals going through a divorce.

If anyone has the link for disputing lawyer's bills I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

File a complaint with the Law Society of Upper Canada - Complaints About Lawyers and Paralegals | The Law Society of Upper Canada

You can also challenge the bill with them.

Morning;

Thought I would give everyone an update on this thread.

As per guidance on this forum, I went on line, contacted The Law Society of Upper Canada, filled out the form, itemized the complaints and sent it in.

Much to my complete amazement, they did a follow up. My former lawyer was obviously rattled by it. He sent me a few emails which I ignored. Wanting to talk etc. I then turned it over to my current lawyer, young aggressive, affordable, smart and a female (who as a sub note, paid far more attention to detail). She ended up getting me 12 K back.

Going to buy her a few bottles of wine as a present. Least I could do.

One last point...when picking a lawyer....in retrospect....tough lesson learned... go with the second style. I'd rather see my lawyer driving up in a 2 year old Mazda, then a current Mercedes SUV. Sorry my little vent.

Props to this forum.

Have a good wknd.

Thanks for the thought. But if he's able to take his kids some place cool for a weekend, that is all I care about.
