A lot of people aren't aware that there can be large differences between your legal rights and obligations in a common law relationship and in a marriage. You can find a site dedicated to common law issues here. First of all, make sure you are in a common law relationship as defined by law. Find out the differences and similarities between marriage and common law relationships. The largest difference is how property is divided. The matrimonial home is also treated differently. And of course, feel free to ask your questions in our forum devoted to common law issues.
